In Italian tradition, harvest time is when Farmers gather together to celebrate the earth's bounty, catch up with their neighbours, and offer their produce. It is a time of merriment, celebrating the end of the intense work involved in planting, growing, and harvesting. Wine - an integral part of any gathering- has its own celebratory harvest tradition. Fresh off the vine grapes are poured into huge vats, and crushed in the first stage of this centuries old art form.

Since 1997, La Vendemmia has been Ottawa’s celebration of Italian wine and food. Held in the heart of Little Italy, Preston Street, La Vendemmia is a series of Italian wine and food seminars, dinners, cooking demos, wine tastings and a charity grape stomp.

This year, the events take place on September 20-26, 2010.

Coup de chapeau aux italiens Massimo Carlotto et Toni Servillo

Dans le cadre du Festival international de la littérature, la Cinémathèque recevra Massimo Carlotto, écrivain et scénariste, et en collaboration avec le Théâtre du Nouveau Monde le comédien Toni Servillo, qui rencontreront le public. Cette programmation en cinq projections est réalisée en collaboration avec l’Institut culturel italien.

Le Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, en collaboration avec la Place des Arts, est fier d’ouvrir sa 59e saison avec la prestigieuse production, TRILOGIA DELLA VILLEGGIATURA de Carlo Goldoni, acclamée à travers le monde. Après l’éclatant succès de son Arlecchino, servitore di due padroni en 2008, le légendaire Piccolo Teatro de Milan est de retour à Montréal, du 22 au 26 septembre 2010, pour 5 représentations exceptionnelles. Ces retrouvailles sont le fruit d’une heureuse rencontre avec l’un des plus dynamiques regroupements d’artistes de la péninsule italienne - les Teatri Uniti de Naples. Il faut saisir la chance de découvrir l’impressionnant travail de mise en scène de l’acteur Toni Servillo, figure de proue du théâtre et du cinéma italien, qui a adapté les trois volets de cette œuvre de maturité du célèbre auteur italien et qui y tient brillamment le rôle du grognon pique-assiette Ferdinando. Au bonheur d’entendre le texte dans sa musicalité originale, s’ajoute le plaisir de voir sur scène quinze brillants interprètes napolitains et milanais !
