Would you ever have said that one of the most famous bands of the moment is hiding an Italian? That’s exactly so with the guitarist and lyricist of Kasabian who is of Italian origin. His name is Sergio Lorenzo, and his family is Ligurian.

Sergio was born in Newton Abbot on December 15, 1980, his parents are Patricia and Sergio Pizzorno, a mechanic who moved the family to England from Genoa. As is often the case between grandchildren and grandparents who live far apart, Sergio Lorenzo spent the summers between Alassio and Albissola.

He admits that he does not know much Italian. In  an interview with the Italian newspaper, Repubblica, he says: “Adolescente, rifiutavo di imparare un'altra lingua. Ero pigro”. This, however, is one of his regrets and he would want his children to speak Italian. Speaking of his children, they have names connected to Italy: Ennio Silver, in honor of Morricone, e Lucio Leone, in honor of Sergio Leone. The cinema is often referenced in Sergio’s lyrics and it is source of inspiration for him.
