Living Italian Style Toronto

Who do you speak Italian to? La mia bella mamma and zii

Passion: Cooking is my passion! I love trying new recipes and making some of my own.

Goal in life: To make a difference in the lives of students I teach.

Your best dish: My eggplant parmigiana

Your favourite Italian-Canadian expression: “Chi dorme caldo, mangia freddo.”

Main difference between first generation and second/third: The Italian you learn in Canada is completely different than what someone who was born and raised in certain parts of Italy speaks.

Who is your role model? My mom and Nonna. They deal with everything life throws at them with more strength than I can ever imagine.

Most important family value: Respect and empathy. It is important in my family to treat each other respectfully, with an open heart and an open mind.

Do you identify as Italian-Canadian or Canadian-Italian?  I honestly see both my Canadian heritage and Italian heritage as being so intertwined in my life it’s very difficult to say one over the other.

What does Panoram Italia represent to you? Panoram Italia represents a culturally pleasing mix of both my Canadian and Italian heritage.

Best memory growing up Italian-Canadian: I loved coming home from school to a house that smelled of fresh sugo and having my Nonna greet me with a huge plate of pasta, and a million kisses!
