Thanks to Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest, the latest and greatest information in fashion is only a click away. And today’s influencers are serving it up more readily than ever as they preach from their social media pulpits. Here’s a look at five Italian fashionistas, with a mix of good looks, good style and tech savviness, who have managed to dominate the global style stage.
The genetically-blessed Chiara Ferragni began The Blonde Salad empire as a part-time hobby. Her blog would eventually spin off into her very own fashion line, a staff of 20-plus and a life that is virtually shared 24/7. Her pregnancy and subsequent marriage to Italian rap superstar Fedez captured the world’s attention. Over 15 million followers on Instagram tuned into her wedding in Noto, Sicily, which was entirely funded by brand sponsorships, including a free chartered flight by Alitalia for her nearest and dearest, and not one but two custom Dior gowns.
“I do not consider myself to be a fashion victim; I don’t want to wear a product just because of the current trends. Every choice of collaboration and purchase is carefully studied and considered, but they always reflect my personal taste and style, with an emphasis on quality and craftsmanship rather than price or quantity,” explains the dark and smoldering Lorenzo Liverani (220,000 followers on Instagram) on his blog. His sumptuous photoshoot-style posts around the world marry wanderlust with designer desires. Through his blog, Your Mirror Style, he’s collaborated with the likes of Timberland, Mont Blanc, Tod’s and Alfa Romeo to create a mix of travel, style, design and lifestyle content, giving a voice to men in the style space.
This Torinese ingénue (700,000 followers on Instagram) slays us with her elegance and poise. Her posts range from breakfasts in bed in Parisian hotels to her impossibly perfect wedding on Lake Como donning a custom Elie Saab gown. The girl has business smarts as well – she started out by running her own label out of a shop on Turin’s Piazza Vittorio, and then went on to write for Grazia magazine. Today she’s an influencer with a day job, most recently co-founding content creation and event coordination company Grumble Creative and Grumble Management for the management of international creative talents.
This Italian knockout and former Miss Italia 2008 counts close to 600,000 followers on Instagram and is one of the hottest actresses Italy has to offer. She is one of the stars of the hit Italian drama series 1992, which recounts the days of Mani Pulite that brought down many high-profile members of Italian government and led to the rise of Silvio Berlusconi. Gucci pinned her as their “It Girl” of the year and made her the face of their 2018 cruise collection. She has front-row seats at their shows and hosts the brand’s exclusive events.
